520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This master thesis analyses to what extent G.K. Beale’s theory what people revere, they resemble, either for ruin or restoration is helpful and relevant for pastoral care and counselling. Is the biblical-theological topic of worship and its positive or negative consequences a key to supporting advice seekers in their sanctification, their salvation and in becoming more like Christ? It will be determined whether the thesis can be applied practically in counselling or if Beale represents a mere theological concept. A brief introduction of the author and his thesis is followed by a theological assessment of Beale’s conviction in order to avoid its unfiltered application to spiritual counselling. Thereafter, the thesis will be directly transferred to the theory of counselling. For this purpose, several counselling principles are to be derived. Finally, the thesis’ practical relevance will be tested by considering the example of “fear”. This work argues that Beale’s thesis proves to be helpful, particularly because it shows that asking questions about a person’s heart intent (worship) play an important role in their salvation and sanctification process. Only those who have found their identity in worshipping Jesus Christ and seeing Him as the highest good in their respective life situations, are already being transformed into Christ’s image and are experiencing God’s process of healing and sanctification. This is how Beale’s thesis can be applied in Christian counselling.
