Towards a ministry strategy for improving disciple making at Kitwe Chapel, Zambia

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Johannesburg South African Theological Seminary 2020Description: 105 PDF A4 Abstract, TOCSubject(s): Dissertation note: Master of Theology (Mth) South African Theological Seminary 2020 Summary: My observation of disciple making in Kitwe Chapel was that it was not taking place to the optimum level. Eims (1978:18) expresses the need of people in the local church to be able and willing to assist a new convert to ‘become a solid, dedicated, committed, fruitful mature disciple who could in time repeat that process in the life of another person’. I was thus encouraged to undertake research that would lead to a ministry strategy for improving disciple making at Kitwe Chapel. The key objective of this study is therefore to articulate a theologically-informed strategic plan to ensure that the praxis of Kitwe Chapel with respect to disciple making is faithful to God and appropriate to the environment in which Kitwe Chapel exists and also effective. After establishing the current operative theology regarding disciple making at Kitwe Chapel, the preferred operative theology regarding disciple making for Kitwe Chapel is researched and formulated using the integrative theology method. In order to ensure complicity to this normative method of disciple making at Kitwe Chapel, a strategy is then designed to gain acceptance and implementation of the biblical and theologically sound operative theology developed for Kitwe Chapel. The research ends with proposals for further study in recognition that the mini-thesis has not been exhaustive.
