Estrés Laboral Crónico En Ministros Religiosos De La Iglesia “Asambleas De Dios” De Cubaporrvdo

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Johannesburg South Africa South African Theological Seminary 2018Description: 277 pages PDF A4 Abstract, TOCDissertation note: Doctor of Philosophy in Theology (PhD) South African Theological Seminary 2018 Summary: Chronic work stress (CWS) is an unpleasant life state sustained over time, accompanied by psychophysiological disorders, as a result of the alteration of its relations with the environment, which imposes on the subject demands that are threatening and over which it has or believes have little or no control. The evangelical religious ministers (pastors) are a population group that must be classified as high risk to suffer from CWS. The porpoise of this research were: to identify factors that favour stress in the pastoral environment and the presence of diseases and symptoms associated with CWS; appreciate the self-recognition by the pastors of the level of stress, the feeling of overwhelmed work and self-assessment of the degree of professional fulfilment and present a Program of Attention to Ministers, that contribute to reduce stress in these pastors. The study was carried out in 384 pastors of the Evangelical Pentecostal Church of Cuba (Assemblies of God), in which a high level of stress was demonstrated. The stressors were: low income, little time dedicated to the family and absence of holidays and lack of clothing, shoes or food, among others. There were no significant differences between the level of stress and the size of the congregations that shepherd. The predominant stress symptoms were: anxiety (14.6%), insomnia (9.1%), constant worry (7.8%) and gastritis or gastroduodenal ulcers (7.0%). Almost 40% thought seriously about the need to reduce the workload, 10% thought leaving the congregation they serve, and 5% seriously left the Ministry. As a result of this research, it was also proposed the creation of a Program of Attention to Ministers of "Assemblies of God" (PAMAG), which is responsible for ensuring the physical and mental health of pastors, as a high-risk population group of suffering from chronic work stress. The importance of the meta disciplinary approach to the problems of pastoral activity, both theological and ecclesial, was assessed.
